Our Working Board
Pasco Pride is, and always has been, run by a diverse, inter-generational board of volunteers.
Communications Director
Nina Borders
(she/her/hers)

Nina Borders is a Firefighter/Paramedic who moved from Orlando to Pasco in 2015. She is a Veteran of the Army National Guard, and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems and Business Administration.
The Pulse Nightclub attack changed her. Pulse was a place she had attended hundreds of times; she knew those injured and killed, she celebrated birthdays and holidays there. The tragedy launched Nina into a world of activism where she is constantly generating new ideas, forming new community contacts, and developing new creative strategies to serve the most vulnerable. She served as the Pasco Pride President from 2018-2023, and was recognized by Watermark Magazine as one of the Most Remarkable People of 2019.
Vice President
Ant Avila
(they/them/theirs)

Ant is a proud townie dedicated to the positive and sustainable growth of their community. A resident of West Pasco for the past two decades, Ant was born and spent some of their formative years on the west coast in Bremerton WA and the San Francisco Bay Area. Ant has deep and meaningful ties to the academic, small business, sociopolitical, non-profit, and governmental realms of central Florida and aims to bring those relationships to bear in a synergistic way. They studied Political Science, Sociology, and Organizational leadership, with a concentration in state and local government, and post-modern sociological thought. Ant is excited to bring every resource, skill, and insight at their disposal to Pasco Pride. They strive to serve with integrity, lead with humility, and follow with loyalty.
Executive Director
Diana Shanks
(they/them/theirs)

Diana is a Pasco native with a degree in Public Relations & Community Leadership, and a career in social change. They first joined the board as the Communications Director in 2019, and became the Executive Director after Nina's Presidential term ended. They grew up sure they must be the only gay person in New Port Richey, and are delighted to have been proven wrong over and over through this work. They believe strongly that Pride organizations should not just throw joyful events and large festivals; they have a responsibility to confront power, run issue-based campaigns, provide direct resources when available, and fight for systematic change. By day, they're the National Operations Manager for a racial justice nonprofit. By night, you can find them pouring over library books, cooking elaborate meals from scratch, and trying with variable degrees of success to grow their own food.
Treasurer
Juan Pena
(he/him/his)

Juan, originally from Barranquilla Columbia, has been a licensed Realtor in Florida since 1999. He is fluent in Spanish and English, and has been volunteering with Pride since the very beginning!
Secretary
Heather St. Amand-Klein
(she/her/hers)

Heather is an outspoken LGBTQ Ally and advocate, and proud parent of a transgender teenage daughter. She used to work in Tampa Bay as a Community Organizer and activist, but stayed involved even after relocating to Virginia. Her goal is to start a non-profit to help at-risk LGBTQ youth in the Pasco County area and beyond.
